first pictures abroad!!!

some bros in front of Buckingham Palace

on sunday we took a 3 hour guided bus tour all over london.  we stopped to take pictures at a bunch of places including st. paul's cathedral, westminister abbey, parliament+big ben, buckingham palace, and the thames river.  our tour guide was this old british lady that was too funny.  at one point, we drove past speaker's corner in hyde park where people go to make speeches and she said only extremists go there to be heard and in naming different types of extremists she mentioned vegetarians hahahahhahah

A photo

A nice shot to start the week off right.  Looking north up Lexington Avenue from 28th street in Murray Hill.  Notice all of the parked taxi cabs...you never really see taxis parked but they are here because there are tons of Indian restaurants in this area and taxi drivers have to eat too!  You can also see the Chrysler Building!

Who doesn't love this view?

Taken from the top of the Kimmel Student Center.  Includes pretty much every building that comes to mind when you think of New York.

Center for Architecture Future Cities Exhibit

On Laguardia & Bleeker streets, near NYU, there is a free museum/exhibit space dedicated to architecture all around the world.  I wondered in there the other day and checked out their current exhibit about how each of 10 different world cities will change and will look like in the next 1-2 decades.  Pretty interesting!

Hudson River Park

A view of midtown take from the end of the pier.

Looking out towards the Hudson River.  The park basically consists of an old shipping pier that they converted into a park by planting grass, adding a walking path, and placing some benches.

Downtown Manhattan on the left of Jersey City on the right...closer than most people think.

doughnut plant

The Blackout - chocolate cake with gooey chocolate on the inside, all covered in chocolate and topped with chocolate crumbs.  best doughnut ever.

Doughnut Plant, located on the lower east side, serves a number of truly unique doughnuts; some examples include creme brulee, tres leches, and blueberry jelly filled.

NYU mystery concert featuring Big Boi & Dr. Dog !

This year, Big Boi from Outkast headlined NYU's mystery concert held at the Skirball Center inside the Kimmel Center.  He played for more than an hour and went through a ton of hits including material from both Outkast and his solo projects.  The best part of the show was when his 8 year old (?) son came on stage and danced for 3 songs in the middle of the show.  So much energy and definitely one of the most fun concerts I've been to in months.  A nice way to start the school year again and oh yeah...it was free!

The band Dr. Dog started off the show with a great performance of their catchy rock style.  I never really listened to them before but I am definitely going to start to.
