so the met hosted a great gatsby/roaring 20s themed party for college students in new york city. it was in the newly opened wing of egyptian sculptures and artifacts and the american wing of historical paintings. nbd.

alex rios visits nyc

this was kind of a surprise visit, but it was so much fun. alex's parents didn't even know he was coming out to new york. we went to see his favorite baseball team, the cubs, play the mets. after that, we went to visit ground zero and walk around the wall street area.

stern's day out
yes, we saw kim clijsters (who would eventually win the whole tournament) nbd.

as part of stern's orientation, they took us to the us open of tennis. i'm not really sure why they did this but it was awesome. we took the subway from nyu to the venue in queens, ny. we were allowed to split up and do whatever we wanted once there. a few friends and i watched a few matches and then returned home around 5 pm.

presidential welcome at madison square garden
as part of the first day of freshman orientation, nyu rented out madison square garden (!) for the welcome speech given by president john sexton. apparently, this was the only time the entire freshman class (about 7,000 kids) will be together besides graduation. pretty cool.
